About Us:
We Repurpose Trees that have been
removed from Urban Landscapes
Turn your storm damaged, dead, or otherwise “in the way” trees into usable lumber. Do you hate to see solid, Beautiful, valued trees either rot in the yard, go to landfill, or go up in smoke? We do too! If you have a use for lumber… we can provide it. Or, if you don’t, we will help in relocating that wood and give it new life.
Thinning our wooded landscapes for better fire management especially here in Nevada County is a tremendous task. We are proud to work with PG&E, Tree Services, and indivivual homeowners to help in the efforts to mitigate this continued fire risk.
Our Commitment to Sustainability:
Wood is the greatest resource on earth. When properly cut and dried, it can last for generations. We believe our service helps get the most out of whatever circumstance led to that log you have on the ground. Because wood is a naturally occurring resource, and the trees are already taken down, our impact on the environment is pretty much zero.
Services:
Log recovery:
We can remove accessible millable logs for FREE!
To be millable, logs must be relatively straight and free of decay. Currently, we are accepting Cedar, Redwood and all hardwoods at least 16+ inches diameter, and 8 to 20 feet in length. We may accept shorter lengths of particularly unique wood, burls, etc.
Note: We have equipment to load accessible logs at your residence or job site or from a staging area if you have one. If you prefer, you can also drop logs at our yard in Penn Valley.
Portable mobile milling:
We are fortunate to have as part of our arsenal the Wood-Mizer LT40 super hydraulic portable sawmill. It’s a work horse! Practically everything about the super hydraulic is better than the standard LT40 hydraulic. The mill head travels faster forward backward and up and down. Of course the hydraulics are faster, twice as fast as a standard LT40. The milling computer has more features that result in faster milling and less waste which equals more production! It can handle logs up to 36 inches in diameter and 21 feet long. We offer free on-site consultation to discuss pre-job preparation, so we can be as productive as possible when we arrive. Our mobile milling rate is $125.00 per hour (4 hour minimum) which includes 2 experienced mill operators and gas for mill. The only other possible charge would be $1 per mile outside our service area of 30 miles and possible sawmill blade damage due to unforeseen foreign objects inside a log. Each blade is $30.00.
On-site milling:
We also offer on-site sawmilling where you can bring your logs to Penn Valley, CA to have your logs custom milled. This option is typically for smaller jobs. Our hourly rate for on-site milling is at a reduced rate of $100 an hour.
